Monday, October 31, 1949

Abt. 12:30 I walked down the road a ways & got a ride to Cottonwood with Gene Phillips, & he told me Mrs. Kinsey had died. I went to Relief Society at 1 oclock. There were only 6 of us. Mrs. Drown came with Lydia. After meeting I went to the hospital & saw Virgina Braun (we knew her at Grand Canyon). Then I went to the P.O. & got Sister Trampp's mail & rode home on the bus. Milt, Tiny, & Bob went hunting. Tonite Rosalie, Jerry Vorcutt, Roger & I went to the Halloween dance at the Chapel. We sure had fun.

Sunday, October 30, 1949

Roger, Jerry, Diane & I went to S.S. with Ern & Maggie & Lonzo. After we got home we ate then I slept a while. Milt, Roger, Jerry & I went to Sacrament meeting & Lucille Eden told me they saw Bob & Flora out by Sedona. They were here when we got home and just before we got here Dick phoned & said he'd be home in a few days.

Saturday, October 29, 1949

Roger woke me at 4:30 & I fixed a lunch for him & cooked his breakfast, then woke Milt & fixed his lunch then I went back to bed & slept till nearly 9 oclock. I washed out a few things & ironed them this evening. Rosalie put my hair up in pin curls.

Friday, October 28, 1949

Foch & Cecile left at 3:30 to go hunting. I got up at 7 & got breakfast for the kids & fed Dannie. After Sonja went to school I cleaned up the house then I crocheted till lunch time. Mrs. Bonahar came & ironed. She ate lunch with me. I made cookies for the girls. Foch & Cecile came abt. 8 & Foch went to the Football game. After he got home about 10:30 he brot me home.

Thursday, October 27, 1949

I washed the baby clothes & some towels & dish towels & Don's & Jerry's levis & shirts. Milt & Roger & Jerry G. went over the Mt. to find "Scripture". At 12:30 I walked down the road a ways and got a ride to Clarkdale, then I walked a ways again & got another ride to Ragle's store, then Delbert took me on over to Lucille's. There were 7 present (Relief Society Meeting) & we sewed & visited. Lucille brot me over to Cecile's. I kept the baby while Cecile went after groceries.

Wednesday, October 26, 1949

I cleaned up the house & crocheted a while then I ironed. Martha & Tiny came up & then Mildred & Rosalie & all the kids except Penny & Sharon went down to the ranch. I was crocheting when I heard a knock & went to the door & there was a young man who said the was with Don & that Don would be here after a while & in about 15 min Don came. They were both dirty and hungry, they took a bath then ate supper. It was 11 oclock when the girls got home. Tiny & Dee Dee went back to the ranch with Martha & Raymond.

Tuesday, October 25, 1949

I washed & got thru at 10 oclock then Mildred washed baby clothes & my pink blanket & her blankets. I mangles all the flat work & sprinkled the clothes to iron & ironed Phil's shirt & red jacket. Milt took me up to the hospital & I got my shot. Roger & I went to the M.I.A. dance. Danny Good taught us a new square dance & the wagon wheel & another dance called laces & graces.

Monday, October 24, 1949

I embroidered on the R.S. bridge set & then cleaned up the house & scrubbed the floors. Mable came about 3:30 & we went R.S. visiting teaching to Mildred's, Teddy Booth's & Maggie's. Milt took me to Relief Society tonite. We had a good lesson, there were 14 present. Phil came from his trip to Phoenix.

Sunday, October 23, 1949

Milt went on day shift this a.m. Roger, Jerry & I went to S.S. with Ern & Maggie. After we got home we ate then slept a while. Milt, Roger, Jerry & I rode to Sacrament meeting with Lonzo & Maggie. Milt gave a good talk in meeting tonite. After we got home we got supper. Rosalie, Mildred & the kids ate with us.

Saturday, October 22, 1949

I was scrubbbing the kitchen floor when Milt got home & after we ate breakfast I started ironing & after I finished I washed out my 2 dressed & Phil's shirt & under clothes. Rosalie & Mildred sure had a big washing & didn't get all of it hung out. Milt & Roger went down & got some more stuff from Sister Trampp's.

Friday, October 21, 1949

Martha & Ronnie came just as I was getting up this a.m. After breakfast Tiny "put up" my hair then we really did a big old washing. Tiny & Dee Dee went home with Martha. After supper I mangled all the flat work & sprinkled the ones to be ironed.

Thursday, October 20, 1949

Just as I had the clothes sorted out to wash, Lorene Peterson called & wanted me to come down and wash for her. I washed my hair & got ready & Leon came for me. After I got down there I strained the milk & washed the dishes then started washing & boy what a washing I put out. After lunch I washed the dishes then Lorene took me over to Lucille's. The Relief Society had a sewing meeting. There were only 5 of us. Milt & Jerry came down after me & we came by Sister Trampp's & brot up some of the things she left for me.

Wednesday, October 19, 1949

When I got up abt. 6:30 it was starting to snow so I woke Roger & Tiny & we went out & cut a lot of wood & brot it in the house & Roger hauled some over & put it in Mildred's garage. It has snowed a dozen times today but it is clear tonite. Tiny made a basket & I made another one. Mildred & Rosalie washed baby clothes & I dried the diapers & put them through the mangle. I gave my self a hot oil shampoo & steamed my hair.

Tuesday, October 18, 1949

It has rained again all day & we couldn't wash so Tiny & I put a little quilt in the frames & tied it. I bound it then we tied 3 more & I bound them. Roger & I went to M.I.A. with Ern & Maggie & Lonzo. They came up after us & it was sure raining hard when we left.

We sure had a good lesson in our Special Intrest Class. Milt went to work at 9. Carl was sick. I crocheted a little basket before I went to bed.

Monday, October 17, 1949

It has been raining most all day. We cleaned up the house and I patched some overalls for Jerry. Milt worked on the car till 1 oclock then finally quit and went to bed. It was too stormy tonite so I didn't go to Relief Society.

Sunday, October 16 1949

Milt & Mildred, Jerry & Dickie went out to Everett's Camp to get Monroe this morning. Diane & I rode down to S.S. with them. Roger went early so we rode home with Maggie & Lonzo. We got home at 12 & ate, then I read my M.I.A. lesson till 2:30 & we went to __union(?) meeting at 3 oclock. Kim & Johnnie, ___erwin & Verd were the speakers.

In Sacrament meeting the Ariz. District Presidency were the speakers. Lee Romney sang then he & Fred Harvey sand a duet. I've been studying my lesson & I wrote a letter to Luella.

Saturday, October 15, 1949

Milt & Tom went hunting again. Roaslie & Mildred took all the kids & went up & got the mail. Then Mildred & I went to Cottonwood & got the mangle from Sister Trampp & a lot of the things & the deer heads from the chapel (we washed before we left.) After we got home I run all the flat work thru the mangle & we took care of the other clothes. Tiny, Rosalie & Mildred went to Bridgeport tonite. Carmen stayed with the kids after they left. I ironed then washed the dishes.

Friday, October 14, 1949

I've been sewing & patching all day. Milt & Tom went pigeon hunting as soon as they came off shift. Roger went to the football game (with Cottonwood) tonite. Milt, Rosalie, Tiny & I went to the "Deer Hunter's Ball" at the chapel. There was a good crowd & everyone had fun. the game was 13 to 0 in favor of Jerome. Milt left at 9:30 & we rode home with Ern & Maggie.

Thursday, October 13, 1949

We haven't done much today only clean up the house. Milt & Jerry & I took the deer heads down to the chapel and made frames & hung them at the head of the hall to help decorate. After we got home he slept a while the Tom called & they went hunting. I paid $10.00 on the mangle to Sr. Trampp (?) also paid Ruth Bloom $2.50 & Ragles $5.00 & we bought new (insides) for the toilet.

Wednesday, October 12, 1949

Anne cam eat 9 & she & I came up home & got Milt & Jerry & we all went up on the mountain & got some autumn leaves to decorate the hall for the dance Friday nite. We drove around the loop & sure got a lot of pretty leaves & 2 trees. When we got back to Petersen's, Leon & Lorene & Mary were there. I ate lunch & washed the dishes then slept a while Lorene started to bring me home & we stopped at the chapel & I put my suitcase & things in Ern's car. We partly decorated the hall then Ern had to come home so I came with him. The gang was eating supper when I got home about 7:30.
