Monday January 31, 1949

Mildred & the kids stayed here all nite. They went to bed in Tiny's bed. Abt. 2 o'clock Andy woke up croupy & Mildred brot him upstairs so I let her get in my bed & I went down stairs & slept with Jackie Rae & Dickie. At 4:20 Dick came & woke us up & told us Martha had a baby boy born at 3:15 a.m. After breakfast Dick & I went up to the hospital to see Martha. Tiny & Diane went down to stay with the kids while Martha is in the hospital. Phil & Fred got the Chevie fixed.

Sunday, January 30, 1949

Verd came up after us this morning. Maggie, Lonzo, Roger & I went to S.S. Norma and I taught nursery class. We got home abt. 12:30 . I woke Milt at 3:20 & we got ready & went to Sacrament meeting with Ern & Maggie. Phil & Fred worked on the Chevie. When we got home Mildred & the kids were here. I was released from the S.S. at meeting tonite.

Saturday, January 29, 1949

Martha gave Jerry the little pup they had. The sun has been shining all day & the snow has melted quite a bit. I scrubbed the floor & cleaned the bathroom. Milt & Fred went to Cottonwood & brok the car down & had to hitch hike home. Then Phil & Fred went down to see what was the matter with the car. We got the clothes in & sprinkled them & after supper Tiny & I ironed. Milt went on graveyard shift & had to walk all the way to work. I made Spanish Cocoa after he left.

Friday, January 28, 1949

I didn't get up till nearly 8 o'clock. Roger had to go to school & I forgot to call him till 8:15. After everyone ate, Fred & Phil went to Prescott with the mail truck. Milt, Tiny & the kids went to Cottonwood & I had the place all to myself for awhile. I moved the washer in the kitchen & what a job I had thawing the ice out of it. I had most of the washing done when Tiny & Milt cam home. I've hung some of the clothes on Lupe's lines. Milt & I went to the Priesthood Banquet at the Chapel. There were 19 couples and boy what a feed we had, then we listened to a nice program & danced a while . We got home at 11:30. We got an announcement abt. Roaslie's baby girl - born Jan. 18 - Our wedding Anniversary.

Thursday, January 27, 1949

I called Mrs. Hodges at 7:30 & she said she was leaving at 10 min to 8. So I got ready & went with her. After breakfast Cecile & I decided I'd better wash. I got thru at 11:30 & after we ate lunch Marian came & ironed & put all the flat work thru the mangle. Foch didn't get home till 10 oclock & after he ate supper he brot me home abt. 11 oclock.

Wednesday, January 26, 1949

I rode down with Mrs. Hodges again. After I got the work done up at Cecile's I went over to Mables's & washed. Then back to Cecile's & ate lunch & washed the dished then I went back to Mable's, got the clothes in & ironed & took all the other clothes in & put them on the clothes-rack. Ti was abt. 5 when I got back to Cecile's. I got supper then Foch & Cecile went to the show & kept the kids & Foch brot me home abt. 10:30.

Tuesday, January 25, 1949

It snowed all nite & there was about 14 in. of snow. Roger made a path for me up to the hiway & I rode to Clarkdale with Mrs. Hodges. I stopped at Mildred's & phoned to Cecile but Foch had gone to work so I walked thru abt. 4 in of slush over there. Foch took me to Relief Society. There were only 6 of us but we had a good meeting & I waited at Loren's till Foch came. After supper he brot me home.

Monday January 24, 1949

Foch came up after me abt. 7 oclock. Everyone here was asleep when I left except Roget. Foch & Louis went to Prescott & didn't get home till about 5 oclock then he went over & brot Cecile & the baby home. The baby sure is sweet. After supper I washed up the dishes Foch brot me home.

Sunday, January 23, 1949

(Tiny's birthday) We went to S.S. with Ern & Maggie. Mildred S. & I taught the nursery class in the basement room. Balis & Vaugh fixed it up with a carpet & some cute little chairs. After we got home Tiny & I cleaned up the house & got dinner. Milt went to work. Kim & Lonzo came ward teaching & Maggie as R.S. teacher for Mable. Roger & Lonzo rode to choir practice with Kim & I rode down with Ern & Maggie. We went to see Aunt Delie & Uncle Al___, then went to sacrament meeting. When we got home Tiny, Phil, Fred & Roger went to the show to see "Stations West".

Saturday, January 22, 1949

Mrs. Hodges didn't go to work this a.m. so I had to wait for the bus. It was 9:30 when I got to Cecile's. I took part of our ironing down there & ironed. It was 12:45 we Foch got home for lunch & 6 when he came for supper. After we ate I washed the dishes then he brot me home abt. 7:30 I ironed awhile & Tiny made some apple fritters, the I scrubbed the floor & cleaned Rogers pants, coat & Milt's pants.

Friday, January 21, 1949

I rode down with Mrs. Hodges again & stopped at Mable's & got some magazines. When I got to Cecile's, Foch had just got up. He fixed his breakfast & went to work & I got my clothes & Roger's underwear then cleaned up the house & got lunch ready. Lucille called & said there was going to be a show at the Chapel. Milt called me & said Ern was over at Eden's so I called Lucille & told Ern to come by & let me ride up the hill with him. Another car almost ran into us on the way home. Milt got himself some new pants & shirt. Tiny washed

Thursday, January 20, 1949

It was snowing when I got up this a.m. The snow was abt. 10 in deep. Milt & Roger cleared a path for me up to the hi-way & I wet to Clarkdale with Mrs. Hodges. I walked over to Mable's & got her clothes back then over to Petersen's. After breakfast I put the clothes on the rack to dry, then cleaned up the house. I put the dish towels & things thru the mangle. It took all day for the clothes to get dry. After supper Foch took them over to Mable's then went to see Cecile. Kim came over to stay with the kids & Foch brot me home abt. 10:30.

Wednesday January 19, 1949

I rode down with Mrs. Hodges and stopped at Mable's & got her laundry ready then went on over to Ceciles & Foch went over & brot the clothes over & I was going to wash but the washer was froze up & blew out a fuse so I called the utilities & it was 11 when they came. I caked cookies while I was waiting then got dinner & after Foch went back to work. I put the kids to bed & started washing. I finished at 2:30 & part of the clothes got dry & I dried some on the store & ironed then got supper. Kim brot Lonzo & Roger up the hill & they came by for me. It was sure snowing! We got home abt 10:45. Mildred & the kids came down today.

Tuesday, January 18, 1949

Our wedding Anniversary. Foch came up after me abt. 9:30 this a.m. After he went to work I fixed breakfast for the kids then cleaned up the house & made a pr. of bootees for Jennifer's doll. After lunch Foch took me to Relief Society. There were 14 present & we had a good meeting. I stopped at the Feed store & got some big sacks to make dish towels out of. Foch cleaned the car & after supper he went over to the hospital to see Cecile. I didn't go to M.I.A. but came home with Ern & Maggie after meeting.

Monday, January 17, 1949

Foch came after me abt. 8:30 when we got here Marian was here to iron. I rode over to Selna's & got some groceries & walked back. I stopped to see Mildred a while. After I got home I cleaned up the house & washed dishes then got lunch & after Foch went to work I crocheted a pr. of bootees for Sonja's doll. Then got the kids to sleep & slept a while myself. After supper Foch took me up home. Phil & I played dominoes & I crocheted 2 pr. of doll bootees.

Sunday, January 16, 1949

Milt, Roger & I rode to S.S. (Sunday School) with Ern & Maggie. I taught the nursery class with Norma. She told me that Cecile & Foch have a 9# baby boy. When we got home Tiny had dinner almost ready. After dinner Milt went to work. I went down to catch the bus. I waited a while & a car came by & the people asked me to ride. They took me to Cottonwood. I went to Martha's then over to Aunt Delie's then to Flora's & stayed till time to go to Sacrament meeting. There was abot 80 at meeting. The Dist. Aids had charge. Roger & I rode home with Ern & Maggie. I called Foch & he said he's come up after me in the morning.

Saturday, January 15, 1949

Milt changed shifts today & we didn't have to get up early. Marko came by for Milt at 6 oclock (he forgot he wasn't supposed to go to work). I finally got up at 8 & made the fires. Tiny & Lupe went up town. It cleared up a while then started snowing again. Phil went to Cottonwood & got some meat from the food locker. After Milt went to work I got Diane to sleep & went to sleep myself.

Friday, January 14, 1949

After Milt went to work I slept till 7:45 then got roger up & off to school. Then I crocheted a while & sewed & patched. Phil & Tiny went up town again & I sent Rosalie a pkg. It has been blowing & snowing & raining & (abt everything else on the Calendar). This evening I crocheted a bootee the Phil & I played a game of dominoes & I beat him. Phil, Tiny & Carmen have been drawing pictures all evening.

Thursday, January 13, 1949

I didn't get up till nearly 8 this a.m. (It is Milt's day off) After Roger went to school I scrubbed the floor again. It has been snowing most of the day. Phil & Tiny went up town then Milt went up & got the paper. Phil went to the Valley & Tiny Verdugo brot him home. We had fish for supper tonite. Tiny & I ironed this P.M. & I made a pr of overalls for Tommy & finished a pr for Paul. We sent Pauline pkgs. and I wrote to Pauline & to Rosalie. It is still stormy tonite & muddy ooh _ what a mess. Roger went to Cottonwood.

Wednesday, January 12, 1949

I didn't get up till 5:30 this a.m. but Milt left on time anyway. I rode to Clarkdale with Mrs. Hodges abt 8:30 & went to Mable's. I was thru washing at 9:20 & then I went over to Norma's & Cecils R.S. teaching. I also went to see Ruth James. When I got back to Mable's they were eating lunch. After I ate I got the clothes & went over to Mildred Schurings then over to Carol's & walked up the road aways & got a ride home with Ben Allen (from Prescott) in the Thriftee Truck. When I got home Tiny had done our washing. The clothes line broke & some of the clean clothes got muddy & we had to rinse then over. It has begun to storm again.
