Monday, September 30, 1935
Mildred got Gene's breakfast & the kids ready for school. Milt doesn't have to work tonight. Mildred washed & I folded the clothes. I've been in bed most all day. Grace came up this evening & ate supper with us.

Mildred got up & got Milt's breakfast & he went to work. The boys & Mildred & Lucile went to Sunday School. I've stayed in bed most of the day & I sure feel tough. Milt had to go on night shift tonight too.

I got up this a.m. at 4:30 but was too sick to say up & I called Mildred & Milt up, then I went back to bed & I've been in bed all day & gee but I was sure sick. I got a note from Bob. He's at Follett's. Raymond & Edwin stayed all nite here.

I patched some overall, and Mildred ironed, then I patched the clothes she ironed (part of them). Then Mildred & Kate went to town and got the groceries.

I haven't done much today. Mildred & Kate went up town. We cut apples to make applesauce. I sent Grandma Schnarr some apples. Mildred stayed with Vernon's & Glady's baby.

Kate washed over here today. I sewed, then washed out Roger's clothes. I made 3 quarts of peach preserves. Bob quit school, and went to Camp Verde.

Milt drove Maggie's car to church. Mildred & the boys went. Bob & I got dinner. We had chicken, sweet spuds & peach dumplings. I went down to see Grandma Schnarr & showed her my pictures. I made cookies for the kid.

As soon as Gene went to work I started to iron & ironed till 7:30. Then Mildred ironed & I got breakfast. Milt went on afternoon shift. I walked up town with him & we ate lunch at the English Kitchen. We saw Helen Copeland.

We washed & oh gee what a washing we had & I am tired. Before supper we sprinkled the clothes & had a big box full.

After Milt went to bed, I went up to Mrs. Tucker's and ate lunch with Lucile and Mrs. Tucker & helped them peel peaches. Mrs. T gave me a sack of grapes.

I haven't done much except sit around and read. I sure feel rotten lazy. We got a letter from Loreen and she sent a picture.

We washed Roger's clothes and a few others. I made Melba a new dress all except the buttons and button holes. Kate washed over here.

Milt, Mildred & the 3 little girls went to Sunday School. We had chicken and gravy for dinner. I went down to Grandma Schnarr's a while and then Bob and I cleaned up the front yard.

I ironed while Mildred and Kate went uptown, then she ironed and patched and helped Kate make her slacks and washed and a few more clothes. I sent Nell a card for her birthday. I ironed till about 11 o'clock.

We washed and oh boy what a washing we had. Mildred went uptown with Kate and got some groceries. Milt wen on graveyard shift this evening. We sprinkled the clothes before supper.

I picked over the elderberries and put up 7 bottles of juice. Milt went uptown and sent Loreen a package. Mildred and I put on a quilt and tied it, then I bound it.

I haven't felt good today and haven't done very much. Mildred kept Kate's kids while she and Harley went to the show.

I went down to Grandma Schnarr's a while, then came home and put up 3 quarts of apples, and 2 1/2 quarts of chilies. Milt & Neil went up the P.J. Road and got some elderberries. Bob, Gene and Mildred went to the show.

After the kids went to school I went to bed and have stayed there nearly all day. Kate washed over here. Matilda came over to see me. Mildred went up town. Mrs. Kelly left for California today.

Lassie, Pauline, Neil & Bob went to Sunday School. I ironed awhile then my back hurt me so I went to bed. Gene helped get dinner. This evening Ern and Maggie came over a while. I've heard about Huey Long being shot this evening.

School started today. All the kids were excited, they only stayed half a day. Mildred ironed. Bob and I played horseshoes. I beat him two games. I've sure felt tough all day.

Gene didn't have to work today and we didn't get up till 8 o'clock. The girls washed a few things. I bottled some elderberry juice this evening.

Everyone except Don, Roger & I went to S.S.. Milt drove Ern's car. I made hamburger stew & rice pudding. The girls went up to see Gladys. I went down to Bennett's & boy how it did rain. This evening I went down to see Grandma Schnarr.

After Milt & Gene went to work I got ready to wash. Lucile came down from Tucker's. Mrs. Tucker is in the hospital. Gee what a washing we did. The girls went up town with Helen. I got thru washing about 10 o'clock & am tired!

I helped Helen do Kate's washing, then I washed for Mrs. Tucker. The girls did most of the ironing then went up town. They ate supper with Vernon & Gladys & Otto. Milt & I went over to Leland & Margaret's this evening.

I washed again & got thru at 11o'clock then I rested a while & went up to see Mrs. Tucker. The girls ironed & I pressed the boys pants. Gene & Bob went down to Grace's. Milt killed a tarantula out in the front yard.
